Shields

Shields are an item that allow Link to block projectiles directly in front of him. There are 3 different shields: The Small Shield (which Link starts with in The Legend of Zelda), which blocks rocks, arrows and boomerangs, the Magic Shield (which can be bought in shops in The Legend of Zelda), which blocks fireballs, swords and magic, but can be eaten by Like Likes, and the Mirror Shield (which originates from Link to the Past), which blocks flames and reflects fireballs and magic. In later Zelda games like Link to the Past, small shields can also be eaten by enemies, leaving Link unable to block any projectiles.

For shield customization in the 2.50 item editor, see the shield attributes list.
