Wizzrobes are both specific enemies included by default, and an enemy type selectable in the Enemy Editor.

The Enemy

An evil cloaked wizard that travels around the room, bending time and space to travel through unwalkable combos, and casting spells when it is not doing so. Comes in three floating varieties, blue, fire, and mirror, and four teleporting varieties, red, wind, bat, and summoner.

Spawn Flags:
A new enemy in Zelda Classic, the Wind Wizzrobe casts a whirlwind at Link instead of a magic wave. It can be difficult to kill due to its high HP, and if Link gets caught in its whirlwind, he will be sent back to the dungeon's entrance, but the whirlwind does not hurt him. Wind Wizzrobes can be a rather large nuisance in great numbers. Like the Red Wizzrobe, this Wizzrobe appears aligned with Link.

Another new enemy in Zelda Classic, the Bat Wizzrobe summons Bats instead of firing a magic wave. It can be difficult to kill due to its high HP, and can be a rather large nuisance in great numbers. This Wizzrobe teleports to a random spot instead of appearing aligned with Link.

This Wizzrobe summons random enemies from layers assigned to the screen this Wizzrobe is on. If there are no layers assigned to that screen or no enemies assigned to any of the layers assigned to that screen, this Wizzrobe does nothing. Nonetheless, his HP is the same as that of the Red Wizzrobe. However, despite being one of the easiest Wizzrobes to defeat, the Summoner can be a big problem in great numbers, especially if it summons stronger enemies. The Summoner originated from the Wind Waker. Like the Bat Wizzrobe, the Summoner teleports to a random spot instead of appearing aligned with Link.

Unlike Red Wizzrobes, Blue Wizzrobes move around the screen like a walking enemy, but will phase through solid objects and are capable of moving diagonally. Although the magic waves fired by Blue Wizzrobes deal less damage than the waves fired by Red Wizzrobes, the Blue Wizzrobes fire their magic waves rapidly if they see Link.

This Wizzrobe phases like the Blue Wizzrobe, but has incredibly high HP and attack power, and is immune to all weapons except reflected magic and reflected sword beams, whether they are reflected off of the Mirror Shield or a Magic Mirror/Prism. He is the third most powerful enemy in Zelda Classic, just below the Magic Octorok and the Death Knight.

Enemy Properties

  • Walk Style: The enemy's movement behavior
Teleport: Teleports around the screen
Phase: Glides around the screen
  • Shot Type:
1 shot: Fires a single shot.
8 shot: Fires one shot in each compass direction and diagonal direction. Best used with Flame or Fireball weapons.
Summon: Summons 1 to 3 enemies. Shot attribute 1 determines the enemy ID.
Summon (Layer): Summons 1 to 3 enemies from the enemy list of a currently used layer screen.
  • Teleport Delay: If Walk style is teleport, Time, in frames, between the teleporting Wizzrobe disappearing and reappearing elsewhere.
  • Solid Combos OK: Determines whether or not a teleporting Wizzrobe can appear on solid combos. In older quests, this is automatically set to yes.
