Concepts Discussion

This article should be an introduction to scripting, for those people who have no experience programming, while the main ZScript article is basically an overview of the core language components (in other words, the ZScript page assumes the reader knows how to construct a statement, call a function, etc). As such this article should concentrate on some of the more basic scripting features and rules, such as:

  • Expressions, operators, and operands
  • Variables: what are they, what are they used for
  • Functions: what are they, how do you use them
  • Curly braces and semi-colons: when are they used
  • ...etc.

I'd like to keep this section very basic, with references to the more-detailed language guide articles as necessary. I think the goal should be to provide an easy language index for people who have programmed before, seperately from a scripting reference for people who haven't programmed before. I re-hauled this page. Some of the stuff on the previous version was already covered in on the ZScript page, and I felt that the material here should be very basic. Some of the topics in the previous version did inspire me, though. 8^) ScaryBinary 16:38, 9 February 2008 (PST)
