The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda is a game that was released for the Nintendo Entertainment system in 1987, the first in the Zelda series. Zelda Classic was designed as a clone of this game, using the same maps, graphics, and strings as the original. The game is known for its innovative overworld/dungeon dichotomy, its emphasis on using many different tools and devices to overcome obstacles, its bountiful secrets, and its brutal enemies. These features continue (more or less) in fan-made quests created with ZQuest today.
