Swords are a class of Link weapon equipment; they are Link's basic armament in most quests. Though typically melee weapons, swords can be configured to fire sword beam projectiles. If the Can Select A Button Weapon on Subscreen quest rule is disabled, Link will always have the sword he possesses with the highest level equipped to his A button.

Item Class Properties
- Damage
- The damage inflicted to an enemy by the sword's blade.
- Beam Hearts
- The sword will fire a sword beam if Link's current health, rounded up to the nearest half-heart, is at least this value.
- Beam Damage
- The damage inflicted to an enemy by a sword beam.
- B.H. Is Percent
- If this flag is checked, the value of Beam Hearts is treated as a percent of Link's maximum health, instead of an absolute number of hearts.
- B.D. Is Percent
- If this flag is checked, the value of Beam Damage is treated as a percent of Damage, instead of an absolute amount of damage.
- Stab Sprite
- The sprite that should be used when Link uses the sword to stab an enemy. The sprite's tile is used for the vertical sword, and the tile immediately afterward is used for the horizontal sword.
- Slash Sprite
- The sprite that should be used when Link uses the sword to slash an enemy. The sprite's tile is used for the upward-facing slash, the next tile is used for the downward-facing slash, the next tile is used for the left-facing slash, and the next tile is used for the right-facing slash (and is flipped vertically if the "Flip Right Facing Slash" quest rule is on).
- Beam Sprite
- The sprite that should be used by this sword's beams. The sprite's tile is used for the vertical sword, the tile immediately afterward is used for the horizontal sword, and the next two tiles after those are used for the four beam shards (when the beam hits something).
- Stabbing/Slashing Sound
- The sound effect played when Link uses the weapon.

Other Notes
- Link can enter a "Slash" room type to learn slash upon entering the room. Slash allows the player to slash the sword in an angle, similar to how it is done in Link's Awakening.
- Additional sword moves can be learned by collecting the following scrolls: Spin Attack, Cross Beam Attack, Hurricane Spin, and Peril Beam, among others.
