A mix of skill and strategy. A must play for any Zelda
enthusiast!! Hope you like it. I put a ton of effort into
making this a quality production and while there may be
little bugs like a color being wrong you can absolutely
100% play this from beginning to end without getting
stuck, buying keys, or any other un-fun things.

STORY: This is another account of Link's journey which includes
tales of the Resistance movement against Gannon and the warring
factions within his ranks. Expect the unexpected...

Level Names:
=============

Level 1: "Fireplace"
Level 2: "Boomerang"
Level 3: "Tilted Triforce"
Level 4: "Key"
Level 5: "Nessie"
Level 6: "Lightning"
Level 7: "Jigsaw #1"
Level 8: "Jigsaw #2"
Level 9: "Death Mountain"

In addition to the main levels there are 5 caves (4 minor, 1 major)
as well as 14 minidungeons (of various sizes.). There are 2 overworlds:
Main and Southwest Hyrule. You'll have to travel a secret passage to get
there. Once there if you find the secret way back to the Main Overworld
you'll be able to use its 3 stair warp to get back. (No reason to go
nuts doing the cave over & over)

Many of the mini dungeons are passageways to levels and such. Usually you
shouldn't have to travel these more than twice or so.

NOTES
========

If I could give you one piece of advice for this quest it would be
MAP EVERYTHING. If you try to succeed on your memory alone you may
find yourself frustrated. Everything is winding with tricky 1-way
passages and confusing cross sections. You can probably weasel up to
level 4 on your brain but levels 5-9 and especially the Southwest
areas require at least a rudimentary sketch.

Come to think of it, write down everything people tell you. Always.
Clues are can be anything from direct to downright cryptic. But you
should find enough information (heck, maybe even too much?) to guide
you through your jorney... if you look hard enough!!

HINTS TO GET YOU STARTED
==========================

* You won't get very far playing the quest swordless... I guarantee!

* This quest rewards the boldest, most intrepid explorers with the best
  items and shortcuts. (but even if you suck at Zelda, you can finish
  this quest if you persist).

* there are at least 64 "rooms" which don't appear as such on "Dmaps" (the
  maps you pick up in the caves/dungeons). Four of these "rooms" are in the
  first cave you explore. They're worth visiting...

* The levels are meant to be played in order, but you can play #1, #2,
  and #3 in any order you wish. (but you're insane to tackle 3 first)

* Levels 4-6 must be played in order. Levels 7 & 8 after finishing 6
  can be done in any order.

* After finishing level 7 you go off on what is practically a quest
  of its own, through a giant cave leading to the Southwest. You
  ultimately will need to bring back the Magic Wand to finish the game.

* Speaking of the Southwest, you can open up new caves in the East from
  the Southwest. Then you can travel back + forth between the regions with
  minimal effort. There's plenty of "warps" if you look hard enough.

* The entrances to levels 3, 4, 8, and 9 are hidden and levels 5 and 7
  can only be reached by "indirect" means. But you will be able to see
  where the level 5 + 7 entrances are, so just use your imagination!

* Minidungeons and caves might be hidden and they might not be.

* There aren't many fairies and you don't start with heart refills. I'd
  suggest potions. You can buy them and some dungeons even have one
  you can pick up during your travels. (usually just the Blue variety)

* The quest increases in difficulty. If you think it's easy starting out,
  stick with it. The progression will keep a lot of people from becoming
  overwhelmed and frustrated. You can win even if you suck at Zelda, as
  long as you persevere and have some imagination and intuition. But you
  won't win in one day. I tried to make this quest keep you coming back
  for more. I hope you feel this way!

* Time frame: I get to level 7 in about 3 hours, but I know the quest
  inside out (and sometimes I pump my life back up, but I'm not a super
  videogame person). Work at your own pace. Track your progress. A lot of
  the tough parts are bosses who won't come back. Throw yourself at them if
  you have to. You can brutalize your way through this if you want, though
  it's less fun and takes a ton of time.

  I'd give you these phases: Exploring; Level 1-2; deeper exploring;
  Level 3-5; exploring areas you couldn't get to before; Level 6-7;
  finding Southwest Hyrule; beating Southwest Hyrule (getting wand) which
  is an all-day adventure; level 8 and level 9. Good luck.

OTHER NOTES ABOUT PLAY
======================
Quicksand is the "dirt" tile with the specks close together. It's usually
a bright color, but can sometimes be dark. In quicksand Link walks as
slowly as he would to climb overworld stairs.

The master sword, while in the game, makes it really easy. Stopping at
the magic sword makes the game pretty tough. Take your pick. Of course,
this assumes you can FIND the master sword... which was hidden where you'd
never, ever think to look for it.

MUSIC CREDITS
====================

 Truth be told, I grabbed these MIDIs from so many sources I don't
know who to credit. Many are from freebie sites. If this is someone's
work and they want credit please let me know and I'll be sure to update
the information. If you want to sue me ... well I'm getting no profit
or professional credit for this, which I consider a game distributed
privately among friends and colleagues.
 I didn't write the MIDIs and will extend credit to anyone who did,
but I think they'd have a hard time proving it anyway. I selected them
because of their high quality sound in ZQUEST/ZELDA CLASSIC and for
no other reason whatsoever.

  These are the midi's:

"Rearranged"   (Limp Bizkit)
"Runaway" (Bon Jovi) better game music than you'd expect:)
"Save Tonight" (Eagle Eye Cherry) Ditto:)
"Another Brick in the Wall" (Pink Floyd) sorry about the end of it...
"Jumpin' Jack Flash" (Rolling Stones) the Cavern theme song.
"Lounge Act"   (Nirvana)
"--- & Candy" (Marcy Playground) Dashes just to keep it G-rated;)
"1Master" (??) I think this is from Final Fantasy
"5-3" (Ninja Gaiden) AlphaDawg beat me to it, though :(
"Cat's In The Cradle" (Ugly Kid Joe/Cat Stevens)
"Right to Party" (Beastie Boys) I'm a child of the 80s :)
"Quicksand Jesus" (Skid Row) ...can't you tell?? :)
"BloodSpt" (??) sent by my friend Thea in Canadia...
"My Own Worst Enemy" (Lit) turn up volume to keep unrepetitive
"Abracadabra" (??) a little mellower than most...
"18 And Life" (Skid Row) They sound so good as DOS midis :)
